Behaviour Curriculum
‘Strong behaviour management is the foundation upon which outstanding learning can be built.’
Tom Bennett
We are proud of our St. Finian’s school community, built upon a strong foundation of respect and positive behaviour. This is achieved through high expectations for all, established routines and through learning a curriculum where expected behaviour is explicitly taught by teachers and modelled by all. Children learn that they are part of a culture that recognises and celebrates respectful attitudes and that their positive choices play a fundamental part in creating a thriving and vibrant learning environment, where all can flourish.
Attitudes and Behaviours
To achieve this, children are taught the importance of 3 fundamental principles that shape our decisions and interactions throughout the school day:
- We are Respectful
- We are Responsible
- We are Ready
We also teach 8 Behaviours for Learning; these weave through the whole curriculum, equipping children with the important skills and attitudes they need to be successful learners now and in the future.
- Be Curious
- Be Reflective
- Be Organised
- Be Collaborative
- Be Determined
- Be Critical
- Be Creative
- Be Proud
Children champion our Behaviour Curriculum by taking on leadership roles; each one, creating a powerful opportunity to model expected behaviour to each other on a daily basis (see 'Pupil Leadership' page under 'Our School' tab on our homepage. )
Examples include:
- Reading Champions
- Prayer Leaders

- Bistro Buddies
