Catholic Social Teaching

CST

Catholic social teaching (CST) is rooted in scripture and shapes every aspect of school life at St.Finian's. Through CST, we consider our role in creating a sustainable, just and fair society, where every person is treated with respect and dignity. We begin by looking at our own school community and our responsibility for ensuring that everyone feels included and cared for.

Looking outwards, we are called to help our neighbours in every situation, thinking especially of our sisters and brothers living in poverty throughout the world.

Following in the footsteps of Christ, as a school community, we consider how we can make the justice, love and peace of God present in our world today.

There are many ways we can respond to our call to make a difference. Our Mini Vinnies pupil group lead on charity work, engaging the whole school in regular projects and initiatives to make a difference. Some examples at St. Finian’s  include:

  • Support for Newbury FoodBank
  • Community tea party for parishioners and school volunteers
  • Presenting our ideas on CST in Parliament, to Newbury MP, Laura Farris
