For the SIXTH year running, St. Finian's has been awarded the prestigous Gold Sportsmark Award. This award rewards schools for their continued commitment and development of school sport, competition and physical education. The criterion for this award was set by Sport England and the Youth Sports Trust. It assesses PE, school sports participation, competition and sporting opportunities given to school's pupils.

The Gold award recognises those schools who show exceptional achievement, excellent participation, highly innovative schemes and outstanding progress in meeting their sporting aims. We are very proud and as a school we could not have achieved this without the children, parents, coaches and volunteers who attended and competed in all types of festivals, tournaments and competitions.

KS2: First Tournament of the Year - Catchball

WOW! Well done to our Year 6 team who all competed in the first tournamnet of the year in Catchball and came first.  "We have tough competition, but we worked well as a team together and used our self-belief skills to clain a gold medal," reported Austin. They were great sports ambassadors - brilliant job Catchball team!

KS1: Multi-skills Festival @ Theale Green

Congratulations to our KS1 team, who took part in our first 2021 Multi-Skills Festival and did us proud! The competition comprised of eight stations to test agility, balance and co-ordination- honing in on our target skills.  They completed the circuit of events twice, with the second time attempting to best their personal best - which they did and were rewarded with School Games stickers. They were magnificent sporting ambassadors; trying their hardest, communicating and postively supportively supporting each other. We are immensley proud of you all!

First School Friendly - football vs. Hermitage

We played our first friendly aganist Hermitage and had a fabulous time in the sun. We had a squad of eight, but our boys were only too happy to let two of their players play for our side. It was a solid performance with some great goals and good practise for our forthcoming tournament. Well done St. Finian's.
