The curriculum

Welcome to the Wrens Class!

Year 5 is an important and exciting year as we consolidate all the learning we have already undertaken throughout KS2, whilst getting ready for the final year of primary school- just around the corner.

Securing good learning habits, particularly our independent learning skills, is a big part of our journey together this year; so for instance, checking over our work when we've finished, handing in home learning on time or making sure we have our Reading Journals in class every day. Our Growth Mindset skills are absolutely crucial too- developing an open mindset and positive attitude towards our learning and sharing our ideas and opinions with others. As we journey together, we’ll also benefit from making connections in our learning with our experiences outside of school and understanding of the wider world.

Our residential trip to Ufton Court in the Autumn Term is always a highlight and a perfect opportunity to develop self-awareness and discover our strengths, whilst exploring areas for personal growth. This will be of great value throughout the year as we contemplate and prepare for our growing responsibilities in Year 6 and the opportunities this opens up for leadership at St. Finian’s School.

We look forward to a busy year during which we are encouraged to take hold of every opportunity open to us, ensuring that with Christ at the Centre, we live life to the full.

Miss Ohanian & Mrs Jarratt, Sept 2018.
