Year 4 - Wrens

Miss Page teaches year 4, assisted by Miss Parra. They are supported by other colleagues as they lead sessions in Music, French and PE.

The curriculum

Maths is taught daily in discrete lessons as well as through cross curricular approaches in topic work.

It really supports children in their maths if they are fluent in their times tables. We have a times table system in school where their progress is checked at least 3 times a week. Children to should practice their times tables daily.

English is taught daily in discrete lessons as well as through cross curricular approaches in topic work.

There is a great emphasis on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG). This will sometimes be set as a home learning task.

Music – we are currently lucky to be learning an instrument with Berkshire Maestros. We also attend weekly hymn practices.

Computing – we currently have our computing lessons delivered by ‘Turn it on’ every other Monday. We are learning how to be safe on the internet as well as how to code!

French taught by Mrs Stillman

Topic - this is delivered over the course of the week. Our current topic is Electricity.

The curriculum – Physical Education

PE is taught Wednesday and Friday. It is very important that PE kit is in school on these days, but it is helpful if it is in every day. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each term.

PE kit that should be in school everyday is:

Shirts

Shorts

Track suit bottoms and jumper for cold weather

Trainers for outside PE

Plimsolls for inside PE

Mrs Stevens also helps teach us PE.
