Year 4 - Swifts

Welcome to year four!

Year four is the second year of key stage two.

We use our growth mind set powers to help us with our learning. They are: Resilience (keep going, even when learning is hard), Reciprocity (working with others), Reflectiveness (thinking back to what worked and thinking about what could be improved), Resourcefulness (using resources), Respect (consideration of others) and Responsibility (for our learning and each other). These are referred to in every lesson and support your child’s learning across the curriculum.

Maths is taught on a daily basis as a discrete lesson. It is a year four expectation that all children will learn the times table and division facts up to 12 x 12. There is daily practice in school which is greatly aided by further help at home. It makes a noticeable difference!

English is still taught daily. There is a greater emphasis in Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar in the new curriculum. Spelling is taught is discrete lessons and rules and patterns may be sent home to practice in home learning.
